The Wairamarama Trail Ride fundraiser was held on Sunday 2 March 2025 and was a huge success! We reversed last year’s trail for a different riding experience, which was enjoyed by 417 riders. We raised over $11,500!
These funds will go towards community activities and events, and the upkeep of the Wairamarama Community Hall.
Special thanks …
- to the landowners who generously allowed the trails to go through their farms; we couldn’t have our fundraising trail ride without you!
- to the locals who gave up their time to plan the trail, contact landowners, mark the trails, grade dodgy sections of the trails, mow the Pee Wee track, landscape the outdoor area of the hall, take care of registrations, marshall on tracks and roads, rescue and recover bikes and riders, bake treats and make lunch for our volunteers, and generally help out where needed. Love your community spirit!
- to Brownie and his M.R. Motorcycle crew, and Andrew, Neville, Paul, Fridge and their Huntly Motorcycle Club crew for taking care of the event management formalities and assisting with the running of the event.
- to the medics who were on standby throughout the event, tending to minor injuries. Fortunately, we didn’t need the rescue helicopter this year!
- to Boyd Carlson who generously donated his time and fencing expertise to install two new gates, one on the Family Loop and the other on the Main Loop.
- to the student leaders of Onewhero Area School who offered delicious BBQ treats and cold drinks (raising money for their leadership camp).
- to Franklin Vets, Pukekohe, who generously allowed us to borrow their BBQ trailer for the day.
- and to the 417 trail riders who supported our event, an essential fundraiser for the Wairamarama community. We skip a year in the M.R. Motorcycles trail ride series next year. See you again in 2027!
