Thank you to all those who have shown an interest in this significant community initiative and ordered Wairamarama – The Environment, the People, and their Stories. We’ve had an outstanding response and have taken orders for over 100 books so far!

Orders for the first print run will close on Saturday 23 August 2026 at 6.00pm. The more books we order, the cheaper each book becomes! Prices will be confirmed when we have final numbers for the first print run. We will confirm the price, your order and payment details via email at this time. Payment will need to be made within two weeks of your order confirmation.

There will be another print run, but it will be in the distant future. We would need to get enough orders to ensure affordability.

Book Background & Info

Lifelong Wairamarama resident, David Walter, has been the driving force behind this first edition of Wairamarama community history. He has spent an extraordinary amount of time collating stories, articles, anecdotes and photos that reflect the life of early settlers through to the Wairamarama as it is today. David’s legacy to our community is (finally) at the printers, currently being formatted for print.

This is your opportunity to order your copy of Wairamarama – The Environment, the People, and their Stories, available in softcover and hardcover.

The book is over 400 pages long (about an inch thick), sized A4, portrait-oriented, and will be printed in colour. A few page samples are displayed below.

• The estimated cost of each softcover book is $45.00, including GST.
• The estimated cost of each hardcover book is $110.00, including GST.
